The intro within its self says it all. Diddy say’s on the Intro of the album “My Life 1 was a classic. So If you gon’ do it… you better come with it girl!” Mary J. Blige says that My Life 1 was all about the pain. However she doesn’t feel that pain no more. But did she bring “it” on My Life II? The album opens up with “Feel Inside” which features Nas. This track reminds me of Old school R&B/Hip-Hop. The track leaked a while back with Nicki Minaj but Nas really suits this track. Mary J even brings back her Alter-Ego “Brook Lynn”. However the track that Brook Lynn is on is a track that I am not feeling.

A Track that has to be the highlight of the whole album is Mary J’s cover of “Ain’t Nobody” the 90′s classic. Mary J takes this song to a next level. Mary could have easily gone the Dance/Techno route with this track but she kept it R&B and just put her spin on it. I really want Mary to make this song a single! Another track that I was feeling was “No Condition” which reminded me of some material that Mary did on her “Growing Pains” album.

Another track that is a highlight of the album is the Duet with Beyoncé “Love a Woman”. This track took a while to grow on me but it is real R&B and it’s nice to Mary and Beyoncé collaborating!

However I do have a problem with the album as a whole. I feel that Mary J focused too much on the album being old school. The album doesn’t seem recent. I feel the only track that doesn’t have an old school vibe to it is 25/8. However the rest of the album just seems very old school and I feel that’s where Mary went wrong with the album. The album took a while to grow on me but I didn’t give up on it even the tracks with Drake, Busta Rhymes and Rick Ross – I just wasn’t feeling them. Mary most defiantly needs to stick with the Sequel but not make it old school. I feel that she would have had a better album on her hands if she dropped the Old School feel and brought in a New Era of R&B.

BUT – The album is still better than “Talk That Talk”. Period.

7/19 Tracks.

Rihanna’s first single “We Found Love” is a Chart success. However I do not like it as I am not into simply lyrics and Nursery Rhymes. The tracks success is hidden behind a banging beat and a really well edited and well directed video. However this song is not my cup of tea. Despite of me not liking her hit single I decided to check out the album.

Surprisingly – I do not like the album. Rihanna is clearly making something that I would like to call “Micro waved music”. If you knew the background behind this album you would know that Rihanna was going to do a “LOUD Deluxe Edition” and add some more tracks to her “LOUD” album. However she decided to release a new album. If you listen to “Talk that Talk” it clearly sounds like “LOUD Part II”. I personally believe that this was a bad idea, as Rihanna usually brings out a new sound on every album. However it looks like she doesn’t care! Rihanna is clearly looking for Hits after Hit after Hit, money, money, money. That’s what it looks like to me.

I didn’t enjoy the album. I felt like she was screaming notes at me and was just feeding me Nursery Rhymes. Despite her giving me a bunch of Nursery Rhymes I was really feeling “Birthday Cake” which is an interlude but needs to be turned into a full track very soon. Despite it being Recycled I really enjoyed “Roc Me Out” however it does sound like “Rude Boy” from her previous album “Rated R”. Once again Micro waved Music!

The whole album is not something that you haven’t heard before. It’s typical pop music. I didn’t enjoy the album at all. However if you’re into the Rihanna hype then you will love this album, BUT – If you are into the Rihanna hype and enjoyed this album, then I am really worried about the Music Industry as a whole. I now understand what my Grandparents meant when they said “Music these day’s just isn’t the same”. Give me an old Mary J. Blige album any day over this “Talk that Talk” bullsh*t.

6/15 Tracks.

First of all I would like to say that I wasn’t feeling Drake with this era at all! The first single of the album “Headlines” was a track that didn’t get synced onto my iPod. “Marvin’s Room” made it onto my iPod however I found myself listening to JoJo’s version more. I was a big fan of Drake’s first album “Thank Me Later”. However I wasn’t feeling the same fire for “Take Care”.

A track that introduces the concept that this album is completely different to “Thank Me Later” is the track called “Shot for me”. This is clearly inspired by The Weekend. This track is defiantly something I would listen to while I’m drunk or backing a few shots. There are quite a few tracks on the album like this. As we all know with the depressing “Marvin’s Room”. Touching on “The Weekend” – whilst listening to this album all I kept saying to myself is: “Drakes been spending too much damn time with The Weekend”. I felt like I was listening to one of The Weekend’s mixtapes. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing but Drake brought something different to the game when he released his first album “Thank me Later” I was expecting more of that. However the track called “Crew Love” which features The Weekend himself is another favourite of the album.

However the whole album didn’t sound like The Weekend’s mixtapes. The Drake that I like is still in motion somewhere; with tracks like “Take Care” which features Rihanna is one of my favourites on the album! Rihanna takes a laid back approach on this track with some heartfelt lyrics such as:

“I Know you’ve been hurt by someone else, I can tell by the way you carry yourself”

This is the side of Drake that I like. Another big track which is everybody’s favourite “Make Me Proud” which features Nicki Minaj. Once again all I can say is that this is the Drake that I enjoy! Drake has various features on the album. However the track “Doing It Wrong” which features Stevie Wonder is a track that made me say “This is Good Music” when I listened to it.

The Deluxe Edition tracks are some of my favourites “The Motto” which features Lil’ Wayne. (There is a lot of Wayne on the album) Is a track that could be an anthem and will defiantly be a Club Anthem! The Deluxe edition ends the album with a track called “Hate Sleeping Alone”. This track just reminds me of why I am a fan of Drake’s music! Check out the lyrics:

“I say I’d rather be with you but you are not around. So I’mma call somebody up and see if they be down. Cause I hate sleeping alone, I hate sleeping alone”

This will be Gospel to some boy’s ears.

Overall I would have to say that Drake’s “Take Care” is a Grower. I had to give it a few listens before I decided to dump it in my recycle bin. I felt that Drake was experimenting with a lot of different sounds with this album, but my favourite sound from Drake is what I hear on “Make Me Proud”, “The Motto” and a Bit of “Crew Love”.

It’s very simple, but I really enjoyed the video. I like the choreography and I liked the outfits. Some would say that she could have just saved her money with this video but I really like the Choreography! I’m kind of annoyed that they chopped out the second verse, but I believe that the video suits the song.

“Woman to Woman” is set to be released sometime next year; it has said to be February. So far we know that Keyshia has been working with Esther Dean on this album. Esther is the person behind hits like Nicki Minaj’s “Superbass” and Rihanna’s “What’s My Name”. However Keyshia then took to twitter and said that the one and only Trey Songz will feature on this album!! Already this album sounds like a hit! With Keyshia and Trey having the same management I knew this duet was going to happen sooner than later! Bring it on Keyshia!

This video is very Sexy from Ms. Rowland. Can she get any sexier? I really enjoyed this video though. Despite it being simple, it is a nice visual. Kelly’s album “Here I Am” is in stores now! Go and buy that album!!

Beyonce is really going for it with this album. I can’t knock her hussle as she is with child now. It’s a wise decision that she has recorded these video’s before the baby bump and releasing them one after another to remain relevant! As her stans will say “She’s pregnant and still slaying your Fav!” I can’t wait for the full video. It looks like the same choreography from the VMA’s performance, and I liked that choreography so lets see how this video pans out!
