Recently I’ve blogged about winner of X-Factor 2009 (Joe McElderry) getting Dropped from Simon Cowell’s label. Now recent news has surfaced that Shayne Ward Winner of X-Factor in 2005, is now getting dropped!

British pop star Shayne Ward has become the latest casualty of Simon Cowell’s record label cull as another TV talent show winner is dropped from the music mogul’s books.

Ward won Cowell’s U.K. singing contest The X Factor in 2005 and went on to score a number one single and album, with his first track, That’s My Goal, becoming the year’s second highest seller and retaining the top spot in the charts for four weeks.

His two subsequent albums failed to match his self-titled debut record’s success, with 2010’s Obsession scraping into the U.K. charts at number 15 – and it has now been reported that Cowell has ended the singer’s contract with his Syco record label.

The news comes just weeks after reports that 2009 The X Factor winner Joe MCElderry was also dumped from the label after releasing just one album. Out of seven The X Factor winners, only three remain under contract with Cowell – Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and last year’s (10) winner Matt Cardle.

Once again, I’m not surprised! However if they changed up Shayne Ward’s style it would have got him somewhere. I recall them trying to use him as a Sex Image, which would have been a good route to take, but he was very uncomfortable with it, and you could see that. Shayne has talent otherwise he wouldn’t have won the X-Factor the only problem is they don’t know where to place his talent. It’s such a shame to hear all of these singers getting dropped from Simon’s Label. However when you look at recent winners such as Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke they both got a unique talent that Joe and Shayne doesn’t have. Even Olly Murr’s stands out from Joe and Shayne. This is very upsetting but it’s the way the cookie crumbles!
